Scoped Permissions
On every plan, including Free, you can override a member’s permissions for a specific space or page without changing their team role. This used to be a Pro+ feature; it is now available to every team.
Where to configure
- Space Settings → Permissions —
/teams/:teamId/:spaceSlug/_settings/→ Permissions tab - Page Settings → Permissions —
…/:pageSlug/_settings/→ Permissions tab
Requires: Manage Spaces (space tab) or appropriate page manage access.
How overrides work
- Start from the member’s team role permission set.
- Space override replaces space-level bits (read/write/manage space).
- Page override replaces page-level bits (read/write/delete/comment/attach/manage comments).
Overrides are per user. Search for a member, then toggle only the bits you want to change.
Example scenarios
- Contractor (Member role) — grant Write Pages on one page only via page override.
- Legal reviewer — Read Pages everywhere but Manage Comments on a compliance space.
- Space lead — Manage Spaces on Engineering space without full team Admin.
Clearing overrides
Remove overrides to fall back to team role defaults (set override mask to empty/zero).
Relation to visibility
- Private space/page still requires the user to be on the member list in addition to holding read permission.
- Public content on public teams may be visible to guests without any account—overrides do not apply to anonymous guests; team public visibility governs guest read access.
- Changing a space or page between Restricted/Private/Public still requires Pro or above—only the member-level overrides described here are free on every plan.
